The Carroll situation.......
Our record signing seems to be a shoe in whenever he is fit but I can't help but think he would be better to bring on to shake things up and give us a different dimension if things are not working with Sakho and Valencia.

With the amazing start of the season Sakho and Valencia have had together, should Carroll be the starter over what was 2 very capable players and a partnership that was only going to get better? Our style of play was more pleasing on the eye and we had pace and movement to hurt anyone. With Song in the middle of the park strutting around with the ball begging for 2 strikers with movement in front of him, it is also limiting the damage he can do to teams with his amazing passing range which unlock defences in an instant. I can't help but think that it is something that may hold us back unless a partnership develops with Carroll and 1 of the one of the other 2.

For me Carroll does not score enough goals to warrant the start over a fit Sakho and Valencia based on their start to the season, they should start over Carroll when fit...........somehow I dont see that happening anytime soon.

I like Carroll but he should never ever be ahead of Sakho and Valencia basically all that you said especially that Carroll is not a big goal scorer is true.

Carroll just doesn't fit in with the rest of the team.

Re: The Carroll situation.......
I noticed this again yesterday - when we break out from defence, Carroll, for some reason, tends to drop deep and lets the play go past him.

There was an incident yesterday, just before HT, when Kouyate had the ball, Carroll stopped on the halfway line screaming for the ball, and then had a right go at Kouyate cos he'd run on with it and then lost the ball.

It just highlights Carroll's lack of pace and that the system we (successfully) played earlier in the season just isn't suited to his game.

Norm, that goal from Valencia was very good I grant you and he has a good shot from range but for me he runs down too many blind alleys rather than trying to set someone up in a better position.

I get the impression he rates Sakho plenty but is just trying to play our strikers off of each other to get the best out of them.

Valencias goal at hull was one of the best goals ive seen from a WHU player..I kid you not.

The boy has talent...but won't be utilised under this cunt

Re: The Carroll situation.......
Clearly the fat fuck sees Carroll as first choice..even though the stats that's he's so fond of says that sakho should be first choice by some distance.
But he wasn't his signing was he..
The man is an arrogant cunt who I want gone asap

Re: The Carroll situation.......
Despite all this 'pace' from Valencia that everyone seems to mention I'm not seeing much end product, seems to play with tunnel vision to me. Sakho's our best forward because he's fast AND intelligent.

Carroll is slower but is a good team player as well as being more intelligent than Valencia.

Maybe we are more dangerous as a team having two fast forwards, maybe Valencia needs more time to adapt to the PL as well. But for me I think the fat one is just trying to manage the team rather than simply picking what WHO thinks is the best line-up for every match.

I'm sure we would worry Chelsea & Arsenal defence more with their pace than Carroll,s weak heading/shooting.

I've never pulled you on it?

Fwiw, I think everything is fal;ling into place very nicely with AC.
Since he hooked up with MUCKLOW, he's rarely out and about, seems really settled & is loving life at the club.
If he can stay injury free, I think we'll see the best of him over the next couple of years.

Re: The Carroll situation.......
I don't think anyone would deny he struggled at the Bin Dippers, Sold0 (although they were shit at the time), but he's only really had 3 full CAMPAIGNS:

2009-10 - 39 games, 17 goals
2010-11 - 26 games, 13 goals
2012-13 - 24 games, 7 goals

Most of 2011-12 he was coming off the bench, so his stats of 4 goals in 35 games are pretty skewed.
Easy to forget he's still a young man. He'll do for me.

Re: The Carroll situation.......
>>> His goalscoring record when he's actually played a full season, or thereabouts, is MOORE than good enough.

Good enough for a mid-table side certainly. Probably not good enough for a top six side imo. I think a reasonable expectation is somewhere between 5-10 goals a season.

I think he's fine for us, but as Northern said he is very expensive to keep on, and that is a big factor imo.

Northern Sold 3:22 Mon Dec 15
Re: The Carroll situation.......
Hang on didn't he play for LFC... ?? Hardly bog trotters are they (ok they are now?)... 52 games and 10 goals... not for me...
